Appco Group Philippines is helping children born with cleft lips and palates get the medical care they need thanks to a new partnership with charity Operation Smile.
The partnership will help the charity hit its goal of treating as many children as possible born with cleft lips and palates.
Ricardo Lepatan, OIC, Operation Smile said: "Operation Smile’s partnership with Appco Group Philippines couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. Given our programme’s goal and the magnitude of the cleft problem in the Philippines, we need all the support we can get. We're grateful that Appco Group Philippines is lending a hand and the fundraising partnership will surely give a big boost to the implementation of the programme in the Philippines."
Operation Smile, which was set up in 1982, is a global volunteer-based charity transforming the lives of children born with cleft lips and palates through free surgical operations.
An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 Filipinos have untreated cleft deformities so fundraisers working with Appco Group Philippines will focus on raising awareness and funds for these children.
Country Head of Appco Group Philippines Vishnu Annapareddy said: "The reconstructive surgery takes just 45 minutes, changing the whole life of a child and putting a permanent smile on their face."
